DISPLAY DEVICE DRIVING METHOD

PURPOSE: To remarkably reduce the occurrence of cross talk by nearly equalizing an effective voltage applied to a pixel selected in a selection period regardless of a display state and hardly exerting the data in a non-selection period on the display in the selection period and to suppress an after image and burning by making the voltage applied in the selection period a fixed value or above and reducing the dependency of a characteristic shift of a non-linear element on the display state. CONSTITUTION: The selection period is divided into a first to third periods T1 -T3 , and the voltage of a fixed value or above is charged in a display element through a two terminals type non-linear element in the first period T1 . The voltage of a level canceling no voltage charged in the first period T1 when the display element is turned on and the voltage of the level canceling the voltage when the element is turned off is applied in the second period T2 according to the display state. The voltage becoming the polarity opposite to the first period when the display element is turned on and on the other hand, becoming the same polarity when off and becoming a non-selection level when on/off also is applied in the third period.
