PURPOSE: To recognize a pattern with high precision, where, especially, a picture to be extracted within color pictures is drawn in accordance with a previously decided rule without adopting whole color pictures as an object. CONSTITUTION: A picture binarizing part 1 generates a binary picture from an input color picture signal and a basic mark extracting part 2 extracts a basic mark which is included in the generated binarized picture. A basic pattern extracting part 3 extracts a basic pattern consisting of plural extracted basic marks. A basic pattern recognizing part 4 collates the extracted basic pattern with a dictionary so as to identify the basic pattern. A judging part 5 judges whether or not an original is the recognition object one based on a condition such as the number of the basic patterns in the input original. |
