CONNECTING BOX AND CONNECTING METHOD FOR OPTICAL CABLE

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and cost of a connecting box and to simplify connecting operation. CONSTITUTION: A cable sheath 6 of a wiring optical cable l is removed at a branching point and a coated optical fiber 7 is taken out of a cable core 5. The coated optical fiber 7 and a coated optical fiber 8 taken out of an optical cable side for branching are fusion spliced. The coated optical fibers 7, 8 including the fusion spliced part 9 are housed into a coated optical fiber housing part 4 on a tray 3. Since the position of a connecting point may be any of the coated optical fiber housing part, the extra length considered to be necessary for connecting the coated optical fiber 7 and the coated optical fiber 8 is not needed. The branching part is kept protected by putting cases thereon from above or below or by other means.
