PURPOSE: To make measurement in a living body and measure various ions by using bacteria protein or its variant having a light drive ion pump function as ligand. CONSTITUTION: Bacteriorhodopsin (BR) having a light drive proto-pump function, protein halorhodopsin (HR) having a selective pump function for anion, or amino acid residue serving an important role for an ion pump is partially substituted or transferred, or a series of amino acid sequence is homogeneously recombined to form the variant of BR or HR for use as ligand, and it is used as the sensitive film of an ion selective electrode to form an ion sensor. The electrode is dipped in a sample solution, the light having the specific wavelength is radiated to the sensitive film, and the ion pump function of BR or HR is activated to capture specific ions. When the change of the electromotive force between the electrode and a reference electrode is measured, the activity quantity of target ions can be measured. |
