PURPOSE: To manufacture a composite insulator capable of easily attaining excellent workability and high assembling accuracy and suitable for the auto matic assembly of a shade. CONSTITUTION: A carrier 26 fitted with a required number of shades 16 is set on the downstream side of an extruder 24. A core rod 12 is fed to the extruder 24, an insulating polymer material is extruded from the extruder 24, a sheath 14 is molded on the core rod 12, and the sheath 14 is moved to the downstream side via the center opening section of the carrier 26 together with the core rod 12. When a drive means 28 is operated in conjunction with the molding of the sheath 14, the shades 16 on the carrier 26 are moved to the downstream side in sequence, and the shades 16 delivered from the carrier 26 are fitted in sequence at the prescribed position of the sheath 14 arriving on the downstream side of the carrier 26. An assembly constituted of the core rod 12, the sheath 14, and the shades 16 fitted on the sheath 14 is heated to vulcanize the sheath 14, and the sheath 14 is stuck to the core rod 12 and to the shades 16. |
