<p>PURPOSE: To reduce the labor and cost for operation required to replace the system program of the industrial robot. CONSTITUTION: Robot controllers 2a-2n and a host computer 4 are connected together by a communication network 6 in advance. A storage medium 7 which stores new application software accompanying a change in use is set on a reader 5 and transferred from the host computer 4 to the robot controllers 2a-2n through the communication network 6, and the robot controllers 2a-2n rewrite application software in their flash ROMs by themselves. It is not necessary to carry and connect an external storage device consisting of the storage medium 7 and reader 5 to each of the robot controllers 2a 2n and rewrites the application software, and the need to introduce many storage devices to complete the operation in a short time is eliminated; and the labor and time for the operation can greatly be saved when the application software is updated or replaced at a large-scale factory.</p> |
