The invention relates to a device for operating a motor vehicle gearbox. This device includes an operating lever (1) capable of actuating two transmission members (3, 4) which are connected to the gearbox. The end portions of the two members (3, 4) located on the lever (1) side, extend substantially parallel to a longitudinal direction (D) of the vehicle (V), the said members (3, 4) being articulated onto the free end of one of the two arms (6, 7) which pivot about two pins (5, 12) which are mutually perpendicular and perpendicular to the direction (D). The lever (1) extends substantially parallel to the aforementioned direction and pivots with one (6) of the aforementioned arms (6, 7) about the second pin (5), the said second pin being mounted so that it can pivot about the first pin (12) which is fixed between two mutually parallel end flanges connected by a wall (14). This device applies in particular to the operation of a motor vehicle gearbox. <IMAGE>
