IMAGE READING AND WRITING METHOD AND DEVICE THEREFOR

PURPOSE: To miniaturize an image reading/writing device of an electrophotographic system which can read, copy and write the images. CONSTITUTION: When an image js written, a reading/writing optical head 13 is set opposite to an image receiver 11 at a 1st position for formation of a latent image. Then the image is illuminated by the head 13. When an image is read, the head 13 is moved to a 2nd position farther than the 1st position from the receiver 11 in a state opposite to the receiver 11. Then a masking means 27 is closed, and an image reading object medium 41 is supplied so that the medium 41 passes through a prescribed position set between the head 13 set at the 2nd position and the receiver 11. Thus the image of the medium 41 is read by the head 13.
