PURPOSE: To obtain the device which can perform focus detection at a high speed wherever a main object exists in an object area by providing a 1st specific arithmetic means, a specific selecting means, and a 2nd specific arithmetic means. CONSTITUTION: The device consists of the 1st arithmetic means which is concerned in the detection of the focus state of an optical system on the basis of outputs from all photodetecting means, the selecting means which selects a specific photodetecting means among the photodetecting means on the basis of the arithmetic result of the 1st arithmetic means, and the 2nd arithmetic means which performs operation regarding the detection of the focus state of the optical system on the basis of the output of the selected photodetecting means. This device is controlled by a control microcomputer COP and an AF microcomputer AFP which control the whole camera. Here, outputs of spot photometric instruments BV1-BV4 are selected and outputted by a multiplexer AEMP with a select signal AEMP from the control microcomputer COP, digitized by an A/D converter AEAD, and inputted to the control microcomputer COP. |
