The device has a base on casters and carrying the patient support and lifting. The base comprises a fixing assembly (4) for the lifting support with two longerons (5,6) pivoting (7,8) on it. The angle between the longerons can be changed, by connections (14,15) to an actuator (9), moving within the assembly, from one position to another. The longerons can be locked (18,19) in the first position, or free for movement by the controlled (26,27,28) actuator. The locking mechanism (20,21) may have stops (24,25) and complementary parts (16,17) with a locking cable connection (29). The locks may be formed as pedals (20,21) with intermediate pivots (22,23) and rods (14,15), to operate the controls. The actuator may be electrically operated.
