PURPOSE: To receive response signals in a terminal station even after optical main signals are interrupted by a cable fault by providing a detection/control part for controlling a driving control part so as to increase the amplitude of the response signals at the time of detecting that the optical main signals are interrupted. CONSTITUTION: In this light amplification repeater 11 provided with a light amplifier 21, an automatic level control (ALC) loop 22 provided with the driving control part 24 for driving controlling the light amplifier 21 for maintaining an optical output level from the light amplifier 21 at a fixed level and an instruction response part 23 for impressing the response signals RS responding to an instruction included in command signals CM from the terminal station to the driving control part 24, the detection/control part 41 is provided. The detection/control part 41 controls the driving control part 24 so as to increase the amplitude of the response signals RS at the time of detecting that the optical main signals S for forming optical input received from an optical transmission line 12 are interrupted.
