PURPOSE: To shorten the time required for changeover in the continuous reproduction of plural still pictures and to shift to the next still picture without making the user of a device wait by successively switching the continuous still pictures reproduced from an information recording medium in a short time and displaying them. CONSTITUTION: When a video CD is loaded to a CD player 10 and the application processing of the CD is started, the user selects a mode by a control pad 18 and selects the continuous reproduction mode of the still pictures. The CD player 10 is controlled and the read of data is started. The read data are stored in the area I of a buffer memory 30 by a sector unit. Then, the second area of the memory 30 is connected to a picture decoder 70. When a sector is present in the area 1 of the buffer memory 30, it is transferred to the sector work RAM 38. Whether or not an SEC is present in the sector is retrieved. The sector of the RAM 38 is transferred to the area 2. When the SEC is detected the decoding of the data equivalent to one still picture is requested to the decoder 70 and the still pictures are successively switched in a short time and displayed on a TV 20. |
