PURPOSE: To extract a significant character string from a dictionary based on a proper recognized candidate character when this recognized candidate character is recognized corresponding to one of input characters in an input character string. CONSTITUTION: A recognizing part 2 outputs recognized candidate characters corresponding to the respective input characters in the input character string inputted from an input part 1 by an operator, and a post-processing part 4 uses a dictionary 5 for post-processing in which the respective characters of a significant character string are previously registered together with the positions in that character string and information concerning characters before and after those characters. Thus, the character matched with the recognized candidate character outputted from the recognizing part 2 and matching the position in the significant character string with the position of the input character corresponding to the recognized candidate character in the input character string is retrieved and based on the information concerning characters before and after the character of the retrieved result, the significant character string is extracted. |
