PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic element that has excellent resistance to mat-scintillation-scratch and wear. SOLUTION: A photographic element includes a support body with the front side and the rear side, an image forming layer on the front side of the support body, and a protective overcoat on the front side of the support body, farther from the support body than the image forming layer. The protective overcoat contains mat grain, remaining after processing, in a hydrophilic binder, and the mat grain has a Rockwell hardness of less than M90. A protective overcoat layer is provided on the rear side of the support body, and the protective overcoat layer is a farthest layer from the rear side of the support body and contains hydrophobic material with the delta cloud value of less than 30%.
