PURPOSE: To properly correct the image data despite of the different modulation systems by correcting the image data based on theγdata stored in response to every modulation system after it is indicated whether the image data show the binary images or the multilevel images. CONSTITUTION: Theγdata used for the binary or multilevel images which are read out of a ROM 31a of a main control part 31 are supplied and stored into a conversion table part 51 of an image output part 46 via a secondary control part 33 in response to the binary or multilevel image processing mode respectively. Then the image data obtained by converting the image data supplied from an image expansion part are outputted to a pulse modulation circuit 52 according to the contents of the storedγdata. Thereby, the properγcorrection is applied to the image data regardless of a pulse width modulation system of every pixel that is used for the binary images or a pixel connection type pulse width modulation system that is used for the multilevel images.
