The system is designed to regulate room temperature, where heat is provided by electric radiators, at `comfort' and `reduced' levels over time periods programmed by the user. The room thermostat-BCC-(1) is controlled by a radio link(2) and a Stop/Start power controller-BRC- is connected directly to a radiator(5) and in close proximity to it. The controller-BRC- transmit via a `current carrier'(6) the copy of control instructions it has received to other power controllers-BCS- (4) coupled to other radiators. This `current carrier' transmission can be substituted by integral radio signal. An active security control system monitors breakdown or excessive battery use which can effect the correct operation of the thermostat-BCC- and which can stop operation of the radiators.
