Process for rapid germination of plants

The seed of the plant is fixed by a natural eg starch or cellulose-based adhesive in and/or on a mat of natural fibres provided as the nutrient base. The mat has a commercially available size and can be stored stacked in the dry state. When the seed is to be germinated the mat is watered to provide a natural moisture supply. The mat is placed on a surface forming the plant surface before, during or after the germinating process. The mat can be cut to the required contour prior to mounting on the planting surface.
