Multi-pole electric machine with external, permanent magnet excitation

The machine has a rotor which is displaced via successive magnetic fields in the rotor rotation direction, each corresponding to a whole number of magnetic periods, cooperating with the stator poles. The magnetic period for the magnetic fields does not correspond to a whole number of stator poles, with the varying offset between the magnetic period and the stator poles pref. at least partially compensated by a corresponding offset in the supply voltage for the stator windings.
