Control for multi-pump pressure network

The pump network has variable output pumps (P1,P2) driven by a control system (1) and a number of fixed output pumps (P3 to P6) with similar output and which can be switched on independently to add to the total output to the network. The variable output pumps have their drive speeds varied to provide a smooth variation in total output when the additional pumps are switched on or off. The variable output pumps are driven by variable frequency control circuits (1) with the variable pumps individually switched into the network. The total output of the variable output pumps is greater than the output of each fixed output pump.
