The torque converter (1) comprises a bridging clutch (20) with several friction faces (21a,23c) and spiral springs (25) for coupling an inertia disc (22) with a peripheral front cover (2). A piston disc (23) is located between a turbine rotor (4) and the inertia disc and engages the turbine rotor. An output disc (21) is positioned between the front cover and the inertia disc and is secured on the turbine rotor. A hydraulic control (40) acts on the hydraulic oil pressure enabling a friction engagement of the output disc, the inertia disc, and the piston disc, or their release.
