Mechanical device to unload tip seals on rotors in Wankel engines

The device uses cassette housings (1) to hold sealing strips (2) at each vertex of a rotor in a Wankel engine. The cassettes can be inserted into cavities in the rotor tips, and are designed to fit conventional seal bolts (3). Each sealing strip has an anchorage projection at its rear end, and a counterweight (5) is arranged inside the cassette and is parallel to the strip. Two pivoting levers (7) are mounted on axes (8) above and below the projection, and both the weight and the levers have channels (9) to relieve the gas pressure. Curved springs (6,10) are accommodated in the space between the strip and the levers, and in the space behind the weight.
