<p>An integrated waste treatment system for the combined processing of sewage sludge and municipal solid waste in which primary (raw) sewage sludge is utilised. The combined system allows for the sewage sludge to be used as a feedstock when composted with the solid waste. The high nitrogenous content and biological activity of the raw sludge ensures effective composting. Separation of the sludge feedstock into a high density pumpable sludge stream and a low density stream prior to co-composting is required, with the low density stream being at a centrate level suitable for immediate use or further treatment as grey water.</p> |
