A woven belt tape for a car seat belt system has warp ends (7) which have different lengths per unit of length of the tape. The short warp ends (10) absorb the traction loading acting on the belt without loading the longer warp ends until a first elongation value of the belt has been reached. After this has been reached, the loner warp ends participate in absorbing the traction loading in accordance with the ratio of their length to the length of the short warp ends (10).
