A bleaching bath for black-and-white photographic silver halide material based on a strongly acidic (e.g. pHO.1 to 3) potassium dichromate solution does not form silver dichromate precipitates when an ammonium, alkali metal or alkaline metal earth salt is added, the anion of which does not form a difficultly soluble silver salt. e.g. a sulphate or a nitrate.
