Conveyed object detection method

The method involves transporting the objects to be detected at known velocity on a conveyor belt (12). The moving objects are observed by a fixed image sensor (10). Geometric elements of the objects are detected by image processing of the images from the sensor. Points in different images which are related to each other are determined, which correspond to different positions of the object relative to the sensor. The spatial positions of object points on the geometric elements are determined by triangulation of the related points. The positions are then compared to those of model descriptions to detect the type of object.
