Light stable roller for paper mfr. with firmly fixed bearing spigots

A roller, esp. for a paper treatment calender, has a fibre-reinforced plastic casing with flanges at both ends supporting bearing spigots. The casing (10) has a thin-walled tube (2) and a thicker layer (7) of glass-reinforced plastic and the flanges (3) are set on the tube ends and covered over at the butt ends by the thicker layer. Pref. the flanges carry deviating pieces, i.e. pegs parallel to the roller axis, on the butt end surfaces and fibre cords laid on the tube circumference run over the flange butt ends and round the pegs. The plastic is an epoxy resin. The fibre-reinforcement is carbon fibre and the tube is steel.
