Connecting block esp. for hydraulic braking system in vehicle trailer

The connecting block provides a rapid connection for a hydraulic attachment to a vehicle e.g. a trailer braking system. The block has a central bore (12) with a valve element which connects the pumped supply (2) to the accessory (A). A parallel duct connects the return line (B) to the sump (T). If the return line and sump connections are swapped then the valve shuts off the pumped connection. The return duct includes a non return valve (38) and a pressure reservoir (42). If the return line and dump line are swapped the increase in pressure is ducted to the main valve via a side duct (44) to push the main valve into the closed position. At the same time, a pressure sensor (46) switches off the hydraulic pump.
