<p>A linear polarization/conversion apparatus includes a light source (101), a polarizing beam splitting means (131), first and second focusing lenses (135, 138), and first to fourth total reflection mirrors (136, 139, 137, 140). The light source (101) includes a reflector (102) having a paraboloid of revolution. The polarizing beam splitting means (131) splits light from the light source (101) into a linearly polarized transmission light component (133) and a linearly polarized reflection light component (134). The first and second focusing lenses (135, 138) are respectively disposed to oppose exit surfaces (142, 143), of the polarizing beam splitting means (131), from which the linearly polarized transmission and reflection light components (133, 134) emerge. <IMAGE></p> |
