A process for fixing heavy metals in soils and waste prods. using decomposed calcium cpds. and sulphides comprises immediately fixing the heavy metal ions first by stabilising on a solid phase with the Ca cpds. and then fixed long-term by pptn. on an aq. and/or solid phase with the sulphides, so that the Ca cpds. are used as the long-term reaction partner for the pptn.
