BITUMINIZED MATERIAL FOR PROTECTIVE COATINGS ON CABLES

FIELD: hydrocarbon-based protective coatings. SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protective coatings for cables obtained by applying bitumen compositions onto fabrics. To provide uniform impregnation and exclude excess stickiness of bituminized material, fabric is treated with solution of bitumen-polymer composition in organic solvent followed by heat treatment of the material to remove solvent. Composition includes 42-50 wt % of solid bitumens with softening temperature higher than temperature at which bituminized material-containing object will be used whereas, as a polymer (1- 1.5 wt %), butadiene-styrene, butadiene-methylstyrene thermoelastoplastics or butyl rubber are utilized. If necessary, up to 5 wt % of antiseptic may be incorporated into impregnating composition. EFFECT: achieved uniform impregnation and lack of stickiness.
