<p>A horn with a piezoelectric membrane including a ceramic disc (1) adhered to rectangular metal plate (2). A slotted ring (3) made of light metal is rigidly attached to the edge of the plate (2) and comprises sixteen radial projections uniformly distributed around its circumference. Each projection has an axially facing boss (4) forming a stiffener. The membrane assembly (1, 2, 3) is attached to a moulded rubber membrane (5) that is circular to make mounting easier. The membrane (5) comprises a flexible wavy portion (7) enabling free movement of the central portion. Two thin metal strips are embedded in the rubber of the membrane (5) for establishing an electrical contact with the ceramic disc (1) and the metal plate (2) respectively. Said piezoelectric horn has a substantially reduced weight and power consumption relative to conventional electromagnetic horns.</p> |
