The method is for recognizing the activeness for the sustain pedal without regard to the operation forms(active high/active low) of it. The method comprises the steps of: reading the initial value of the sustain port and setting it "active low" if the value read is "high" or "active high" if the value read is "low"; detecting the potential variation of the sustain port, setting the sustain flag to perform sustain operation; if not detecting variation, resetting the sustain flag not to perform the sustain operation.
