A sheet of flexible film (1) is carried by delivery rollers which form it into a cylindrical tube and deliver it to a work station which also has a supply of profiled strip fastening material (3). The film and strip materials are brought together by a support channel (150) which receives a projecting portion of the profiled strip. A curved support surface (100) is located within the tube of film, such that it contacts inner flange surfaces (4a,b) of the strip adjacent to the two edge portions of the film sheet. The support surface and channel together form the jaws of a heat-welding clamp which secures the film and strip together for welding to define a closed tube, cut by subsequent work stations to form bags. <IMAGE> |
