Method of display of symbols on screen

The method commences with storage of rows of pixels forming half of a symmetric symbol. The full symbol is generated by inversion of the stored pixel data about the appropriate axis. Each row of a symbol is stored in the form of a word (L) in a memory (10). The symbol is displayed by transfer of successive rows in a shift register (18) clocked at the frequency of display of pixels. The second part is displayed by transferring in the shift register the rows of the first part but with the pixels inverted to correct inversion that occurs in transmission from the memory.
