A process for the bituminous coating of any type of carrier, comprises a cold coating operation by a bituminous emulsion giving an adhesive break (complete or incomplete) in a mixer, followed by heating of the coating, e.g. in a re-heater to a suitable temp. for transportation and deposition at about 100 deg C without the need to evaporate off water. Also claimed are: the emulsion used; the resulting coated substrates; and equipment for the prodn. and laying of the materials.
