Insulating termination for end of high or very high tension electrical cable

The cable termination (2) fits on the end of the electric cable (4), and has a tubular conducting coupling (28) that is fixed on the end of the cable and is in contact with a central conductor (6) of the cable. An end cap (40) is made as a single piece with an axial passage to receive the end of the cable. The cap is made of an insulating material and is closed at one end. The inner end of the passage receiving the cable is lined (46) with a conducting or semiconducting material. This comes into contact with the coupling (28) attached to the end of the cable. The entry to the axial passage has an annular deflector (52) made of a conducting or semiconducting material. The deflector makes contact with the screen of the cable.
