The connector has a first part (1a) with a first contact lug (11) and a second part (1b) having a support (5) which extends in the direction of the first part and which ends adjacent to the first lug with a second lug (7). A tensioning screw assembly (13,28) is provided to draw the two lugs together. The first and second lugs can be provided under the curve of the tent panel support members. the first lug can be threaded to receive the tensioning screw which engages the second lug.
