<p>A resurfaced carpet (100) and its process of making is described. The resurfaced carpet is made by coating a pile fiber carpet surface (125) with a polymer compound (130). In one embodiment, the pile fiber carpet surface (125) is coated with a thermoplastic material (130). The coated carpet (100) is then heated to fuse the thermoplastic material (130) to the pile fiber carpet surface (125). Finally, the coated carpet (100) is cooled to harden the thermoplastic material (130) and form a hardened surface on top of the pile fiber carpet surface (125). In another embodiment, the pile fiber carpet surface (125) of the carpet (100) is coated with a thermoset material. For this embodiment, after the thermoset material has cured, a hardened surface is formed on top of the pile fiber carpet surface (125).</p> |
