SNAP-IN PLUG FOR A UNIVERSAL JOINT-YOKE

A plug (26) closes the end bore of a universal joint-yoke. A plurality of teeth (28) are cast into a counterbore (30) formed at an end of the yoke (20). The rigid plug (26) snaps behind the teeth to be retained within the counterbore (30). The teeth (28) are circumferentially spaced and may be formed when the yoke (20) is cast. The rigid plug (26) has an edge that extends radially outwardly to engage an inner peripheral surface (38) of the counterbore and retain the plug (26). The teeth (28) prevent movement of the plug (26) outwardly of the bore (24).
