A locking nut assembly for use on a bearing hub (11) including a shaft. The shaft is threaded (13) and has a longitudinal slot (14) with a nut (16) threaded thereon. A first lock part (19) is mounted on the shaft and includes a tab (21) extending into the slot to prevent its rotation with respect to the shaft. A second lock part (26) is mounted over the nut with a noncircular opening (27) which receives the nut to prevent its rotation relative thereto. The lock parts are locked together to prevent their relative rotation.
