A mobile dwelling or recreational vehicle such as a caravan or mobile home is disclosed. The side walls may be deployed fan-wise and consist of telescoping panels (7, 9, 11) comprising a lower portion supported by retractable rails (17). The floor space in the vehicle may thus be increased without exceeding the maximum dimensions for road use when the vehicle is in the collapsed position.
