The belt adjuster (11) consists of a U-profile (21) with two through-holes (22) on the side faces of the profile to accommodate two cable reversal pivots (23). A rotationally movable sliding sleeve(26) is located on each of the pivots. Each sleeve has two guide grooves (28) for the cable reversal upon which two circulating cables (27) are guided and directed through two floating pivots (25) by holes. Two parallel extending longitudinal through-slots (24) are located on each side face of the U-profile between the through-holes and provide guides for the freely movable floating pivots.
