The invention relates to a liner (1) consisting of an expandable steel strip and intended for insertion into leaky pipes to be repaired. Said liner has a locking device (4) which clicks into place in very small steps. The internal strip end (2) is therefore provided with a slot (5) having two rows of teeth (8, 9), whereas the external strip end (3) supports a clamping pinion (10), a guide pinion (11) and a blocking pinion (12) so that they can rotate. A tension spring (17) engages on the axis of rotation of the blocking pinion (12), holds the blocking pinion (12) engaged with the guide pinion (11) and presses said blocking pinion into the area (21) between the clamping pinion (10) and the guide pinion (11).
