Separation of water/alcohol(s) mixtures

Water/alcohol(s) mixtures are separated into a water-rich stream and an alcohol-rich stream by the selective permeation of water through a polyester imide membrane under pervaporation or perstraction conditions. The polyester is preferably polyethylene-adipate or polyethylene-succinate and this is reacted with a dianhydride, preferably pyromellitic dianhydride.
