A method for manufacturing a molded pad (10) for an air bag device includes preparing a mold (23) having a notch forming member; injecting molding material into the mold; projecting the notch forming member (26) into the mold cavity; cooling the mold (23) to harden the molding material; and removing the hardened molding material from the mold (23) to obtain a molded pad (10).
