A mass air flow sensor housing for reducing backflow includes a U-shaped air flow path (15) having an elliptical inlet (13) and an outlet (16). A mass air flow sensor (10) is positioned in the U-shaped air flow path (15). The converging ellipse inlet (13) to the U-shaped air flow path (15) reduces turbulent air flow.
