<p>The wheelchair (200) of the present invention permits a patient to manually rotate handwheels (246) which operate a drive mechanism (250, 252, 254) to selectively propel the wheelchair, raise and lower the wheelchair seat between a standing and a sitting position (334, 336, 376, 378) or raise the footrest (464) for the wheelchair (470, 478) to elevate a patient onto a portion (300) of a wheelchair support seat (298, 300) in the standing position. As the seat moves to a raised position, a front section (298) thereof pivots downwardly relative to a rear section (300) and the rear section is contoured (352, 354, 356) to support the buttocks of a patient.</p> |
