<p>A generally columnar chamber (10) for uniformly mixing a gas, such as ozone, into a liquid, such as water. The mixing chamber (10) is assembled from a series of round tray sections (12) each having an outer (18) and an inner (20) helical conduit section and a central vertical tube section (28). The trays (12) are stacked, forming a continuous outer helix, inner helix and central column. A port (36) directs liquid into the lower portion of the outer helix. Crossover chamber (14) allows the liquid to enter and descend through the inner helix. The liquid exits the inner helix into a cylindrical sump (24), where a vortex is created. Heavy particles (40) accumulate along the sump wall. Liquid from the sump (16) passes upwardly through an aperture plate or vortex buster (52) and into the vertical column (32) and out through outlet (34).</p> |
