<p>A beef animal is supported by a pair of slatted conveyors which run parallel but spaced apart and mutually inclined so as to have a truncated V bight. The conveyors past an operator who stuns the animal and then attaches a shackling chain to a hind leg. The shackled animal is then discharged onto an apron which inverts it until it is lifted away by an overhead conveyor. A cantilever support of the terminal section of the conveyor is used so that the operator is unobstructed when the attaches the chain.</p> |
