<p>Title polymer is obtd. by heating the monomers e.G. 2,4-bismaleinimidotoluene, above their m.pt. for several hrs. Polyaddn. begins at 175 degrees C and polymsn. temp. is esp. 220 - 250 degrees C. The prodt. is dense, pore-free and insol. in org. solvents (density 1.37 g/cm3). It has a 3D cross-linked amorphous structure and melts only on heating to >420 degrees C. Its mechanical props are maintained at >200 degrees C. Its use in fibre reinforced windings is as in P2,124,740.</p> |
